And it burns, burns, burns…

...the ring of fire...

We all know from the awesome BBC documentaries on TV that in Africa there are bush-fires burning down all plants in the dry season to create space for the rainy season again and enrich the rather poor soil with minerals from the ashes. However, it is a very different experience to actually be in the village next to this event and have ashes coming down like snow everywhere around. Ever since I have arrived here in december, not a single drop of rain has fallen on my roof, so it did not take long to have the first fires passing by. This was a huge fire of estimated 150 – 200 metres of breadth raging through the wilderness half an hour of a walk from my house here.

It’s a true natural spectacle, nevertheless the local children do rather wonder about the Nazaras’ augmented interest:
